The founding of Flanagan's Fishmongers
at 18 Broad St,Waterford 100 years ago

M J Flanagan supply quality seafood to Waterford and the
south east for over a hundred years.
Established by Martin J Flanagan in 1908, the company traded for many years from its well-known city centre premises at Broad Street,Arundel Square, Waterford.
His son jack subsequentily took up the helm at the then fish and poultry enterprise, selling chickens and the catches of local fishermen to the people of Wateford and exporting large volumes of salmon to the UK.
In the late 1950's John Whittle-a cousin of Jack's-took
over the business
and he was eventually
succeeded by his sons John and Brendan,
who
continue to run.
MJ Flanagan today from its base a the
Northern Extension of the IDA Industrial Estate.
Their suppliers still include many local fishermen
at Dunmore East,
Kilmore Quay and Wexford and
amoungst their many customers
are most of the
Quality hotels within a sixty-mile radius and some
of the best known restaurants in the locality.
M J Flangan reputation for excellence has stood the test of time throughout their many years in business.
The name has become synonymous with the freshest seafood at the most competitive prices and Flanagan's great range includes a fantasic selection of fish, including lobster(in season), and mussels.
They're particularly rennowned for their delicious smoked salmon.
The many customers who call to our Industrial Estate premises will tesify to the great service and attention to detail guaranteed by the Whittle brothers and their experienced staff, many of whom have been with the company for over 30 years.
This tradition of distinction and quality, handed down through the generations, is what sets them apart from all the competition.
